Here’s why: LESS competition.
1. first many people take vacation the last two weeks of August, and are not out home shopping.
2. Many people are waiting for the fed to cut rates in September, and are delaying looking for a home until then. (If you want to be part of the crowd, then feel free to wait as well)
3. Renters have resigned leases for Sept so they are out of the mix
4. Families are more focused on back to school, not home shopping.
5. Buyer fatigue has set in, people just want a break while “the weather is nice” and will pick back up in the fall market.
Historically August is the second slowest month for real estate activity, only behind December.
It’s almost always a good idea to zig when others zag. If everyone else is waiting, you can take advantage and pick up a home that’s been sitting on the market.
